Tilda Swinton walks the red carpet at a screening of her movie A Bigger Splash on Thursday night (April 21) at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.
The 55-year-old actress was joined at the event by her co-star Ralph Fiennes, 53, as well as Alex Pettyfer.
Tilda spoke to THR at the event and responded to the controversy over the whitewashing of an Asian character in her movie Doctor Strange. She is playing the role of the Ancient One, who was originally a Tibetan-born male in the comic books.
“Well, it’s not actually an Asian character — that’s what I need to tell you about it,” Tilda said. “I wasn’t asked to play an Asian character, you can be very well assured of that… You just have to wait and see, because it’s not an Asian character.”
FYI: Tilda is wearing a Maison Margiela Artisanal look.
