LACKAWANNA COUNTY — Traffic is backed up on Interstate 81 Northbound near the River Street exit, in Lackawanna County.

A car fire is being blamed for about three mile backup Friday morning on the interstate.

According to the driver, another motorist made him aware of the smoke coming from the vehicle, which caused him to pull over. Once the driver pulled over, the car caught fire.

A lane was closed for a short period of time on Interstate 81.
