For those of you holding a candle for Orphan Black‘s Delphine, it’s time to let go.
Cosmia’s (Tatiana Maslany) love interest took a bullet in the season 3 finale, and a new season 4 promo has confirmed everyone’s worst suspicions. Evelyne Brochu’s character has official joined the long list of the dead.
BBC America put out an “In Memoriam” teaser for the upcoming season, and the two-minute montage flipped between humorous and heart wrenching before Delphine’s name closed out the final frames. Rachel’s eye, Vic’s finger, and Donnie’s dignity were also included amongst the casualties.
Series co-creator John Fawcett teased the death back in June, but stopped short of saying whether or not the beloved character was actually down for good.
“I know this will be upsetting to many fans but the story in our minds has always been a tragic love story,” Fawcett explained to Entertainment Weekly. “But trust me, this was a necessary move to make. And its necessary in Cosima’s story and it’s necessary going forward in subsequent seasons-in season 4 and season 5.”
Does the “In Memoriam” teaser have anything to do with Sarah’s (Maslany) Alice in Wonderland promo? Will looking back at these deaths give the sestras the information they need to move forward? Find out when Orphan Black returns to BBC America in April.
