UPDATE (04/19/2016 at 2:40 p.m. ET):
Michael Strahan isn’t even out the door of Live With Kelly and Michael, but gossip already abounds over who may take his spot.
The rumored front-runner: Anderson Cooper. CNN’s resident silver fox, 48, even has someone rooting for him behind-the-scenes.
“Kelly [Ripa] adores Anderson and she is pushing hard to get him the job,” an insider told Naughty Gossip. “He can still work at CNN but will no longer be able to travel.
“He had his own morning show and knows how to do this. They are trying to lock down a deal.”
Live With Kelly and Anderson does have a certain ring to it — just look at their chemistry!
But don’t worry, K&M fans, the TV personality, 44, isn’t leaving his mid-day talk show just yet.
Michael is expected to move to GMA full-time this September after wrapping up his current job over the summer, The Hollywood Reporter writes.
The Super Bowl winner has appeared on the early-morning series twice-a-week since 2014, so the gig is essentially a promotion.
Although the dad of four seems right at home with Kelly, 45, he’s only been her television right-hand man since 2012, when he took over Regis Philbin’s role.
“My time with Live with Kelly and Michael has been transformative, and my departure will be bittersweet,” he said in a statement. “Kelly has been an unbelievable partner, and I am so thankful to her and the entire team.”
Although we’re sad to see Michael go, it’s hard not to look forward to the lineup of charming guys who will try to replace him.
