PartyNextDoor ‘Work’: Allegedly Never Intended For Rihanna — Artist Is Mastermind Behind ‘Work’ Lyrics

“Work (work, work, work, work)” can you believe it? PartyNextDoor has lain claim to this chart-topping hit, and it’s true. PartyNextDoor “deserves it.”

Turning the internet — and especially OVO fans — on their heads, right now, is PartyNextDoor’s leaked reference track to Rihanna’s new song. The song features OVO’s own Drake as well.

According to Complex, ‘s reference track was noticed after Keke Palmer uploaded a Snapchat video of herself, while listening to PND’s version of the song. This, of course, sparked a worldwide search for the artist’s full-version of the track. However, so far, only the snippet has been found. From the sound, the PartyNextDoor audio compilation is from Keke Palmer’s Snapchat videos.

Fader attempted to contact Keke. However, Ms. Palmer’s representative didn’t respond to the news medium’s interview request. Yet, Fader did confirm with OVO that the voice on the track was, indeed, PartyNextDoor’s.

Ever since PartyNextDoor’s “Work” made it onto the scene, many of his fans have been craving and requesting the full-version from the artist. Even Complex‘s Tamara Dhia mentioned that she wouldn’t be upset at all, if PartyNextDoor released a real cut of the popular dance song.

Via Instagram, PartyNextDoor appeared to be grateful for the chance to contribute to such a smash-hit, as a songwriter. The video showed the “Work” writer celebrating with friends.

“My first #1 as a songwriter. Thank you [Rihanna] and [Drake] for the opportunity. Album on the way.”

It’s definitely a praiseworthy endeavor for PartyNextDoor, to say the least of it. However, Hip Hollywood states that it should be the other way around. The news medium mentions that it should be Rihanna thanking PartyNextDoor, for the creativity behind “Work,” making it trendy and catchy.

Yet, what’s most intriguing about PartyNextDoor’s song is the alleged fact that it was never meant for Rihanna. The aforementioned source notes that, during a listening session with OVO, Rihanna heard PartyNextDoor’s “Work” and asked if she could have it. And the rest is history.

If you watch the Instagram video, you can see Rihanna standing beside PartyNextDoor, and he reacts as if she gives him some good news about his track. As can be seen from the results, good news has followed all who have been involved in the “Work”‘s effort.

Currently, for the second, consecutive week, Rihanna and Drake’s “Work” has led the BillboardTop 100” list. According to the source, only two songs have scored higher for such a streaming rating: Adele’s “Hello” and Baauer’s “Harlem Shake.” Billboard elaborates more on data concerning “Work.”

“‘Work’, released on Westbury Road/Roc Nation, holds atop the Hot 100 boosted by an 80 percent blast to 46.5 million U.S. streams in the tracking week ending Feb. 25, according to Nielsen Music, following the arrival of its official music video Feb. 22. Notably, the song sports 13.9 million Vevo on YouTube clicks for the week, up from 575,000 the prior frame.”

Nevertheless, if you didn’t notice in PartyNextDoor’s Instagram post, he mentioned an upcoming album. He also noted it via Twitter.

It has been a year and a half since PartyNextDoor dropped his studio album, PartyNextDoor II. However, according to an interview with Fader, it’s taking PartyNextDoor a while for a specific reason. In the interview, this artist mentioned that he wants to make 100 songs before he chooses the tracks to place on the new album.

As far as “who’s going to feature on the album,” PartyNextDoor says that’s a secret for now. However, it never hurts to guess. Maybe “Work” was originally supposed to be one of his “100 songs”?

All in all, what’s your stance on PartyNextDoor’s writer position for “Work”? Which version of the song do you prefer? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below.
