It was an ambitious target – a collective weight loss of one million pounds in one year.
It seems that weight-loss show Operation Transformation’s Million Pound Challenge is not quite up to speed with its target.
Two months into the challenge, Irish people have lost nearly 80,000 pounds collectively – the weight of one shipping container.
However, if we are to complete the Million Pound Challenge, we will need to log a weight loss of over 90,000lbs each month over the next 10 months.
So far, 30,000 people have logged their weight-loss results online.
RTE told the Herald that they were “very happy with the progress that has been made to date”.
This year, Operation Transformation, presented by Kathryn Thomas (inset), is extending its eight-week TV campaign into a 12-month health initiative, via radio, online and social media – designed to keep the nation motivated to stay fit.
RTE said that the Million Pound Challenge, along with their Operation Healthy Lunchbox initiative, would remain “focus areas throughout the year”.
