is one of several investors who has funded a Brooklyn-based startup, Exo, a company that makes cricket-flour foods. According to Bloomberg, Exo closed a $4 million series A funding from AccelFoods, the Collaborative Fund, and most notably, Nas.
Currently, the company is making cricket-flour protein bars that are available on their website, Whole Foods, and Wegman’s. The site describes the bars as being “soy, dairy, grain and gluten-free. Paleo and environmentally-friendly protein bars.” It’s a little unusual to imagine eating crickets on the regular, but Nas’ funding and endorsement speaks volumes of his faith in the product. Of course, this new company is only one of Nas’ many projects.
