SINGER Don McLean announced on Friday that his upcoming Australian tour including his March 30 Perth show, will be postponed until 2017.
The American Pie singer‘s Australia tour was set to kick off next month, including a show at Byron Bay’s Bluesfest and a performance at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre.
McLean is currently going through the courts after he was arrested on a misdemeanour count of domestic violence assault in the US in January.
“Don McLean graciously accepts the willingness of the promoter to postpone the current tour to exactly the same time in 2017 in order to allow Don McLean and his family time to work at reuniting,” McLean’s representatives said.
“This is an unprecedented moment in the family history.”
McLean denies the charges, and did not appear at the scheduled court appearance last Monday, with his legal team entering his not guilty pleas.
“Don McLean thanks all his fans for their patience and love and he looks forward to seeing them next year,” McLean’s representatives said.
There is no news on dates for next year’s rescheduled performances.
Ticketholders will receive an automatic refund from their point of purchase within seven days.
