Kelly Rowland: Just wants to talk about Claritin.
IT’S not a good week for Kelly Rowland to be on the publicity trail if she wants to be asked about anything other than her former Destiny’s Child bandmate, Beyonce.
Rowland is conducting press interviews this week to promote her new role as celebrity spokeswoman for hayfever medication Claritin.
All well and good, but when her former bandmate and friend since childhood Beyonce just dropped one of the biggest and most controversial pop cultural events of the year — — it was only natural that some interviewers would want to stray from asking her about pollen counts and the like.
American TV program WGN Morning News certainly tried their luck, probing Rowland for some juicy details about Lemonade. Rowland wasn’t having a bar of it, leading to a very stilted exchange with entertainment reporter Dean Richards:
Dean: All the talk this week has been about Beyonce’s new album. Have you heard it yet? Have you had an opportunity to get some thoughts on the whole thing?
Kelly: [Pause] I sure have. It’s great. It’s absolutely great.
Dean: Really different though, right?
Kelly:[Pause] Yes, really different.
Dean: Is the …
Kelly: But getting back to what I’m here to talk about, Claritin. I’m very excited to be teaming up with Claritin and the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
