Danny Boyle In Talks For "Miss Saigon" Film

Coming off the success of “Steve Jobs,” filmmaker Danny Boyle is reportedly in talks to direct a film adaptation of the classic stage musical “Miss Saigon” at Working Title says The Daily Mail.

A re-working of Puccini’s opera Madame Butterfly, the story follows the relationship between an American GI and Vietnamese bargirl during the Vietnam War in Saigon in the 1970s. Premiering in 1989 in London, it ran for ten years and closed after four thousand performances.

Who has penned the screenplay hasn’t been made clear, but the project is said to be moving along fast with the “Les Miserables” film team of Cameron Mackintosh, Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner set to produce. At one time Lee Daniels was attached to direct, but that’s not the case anymore.

Boyle confirmed today on that he’s currently in Edinburgh shooting “Trainspotting 2” and has the FX series “Trust” in the works.
