Dr. Ben Carson, the former GOP candidate and current Donald Trump supporter, said that it was more appropriate to blame the media for covering Trump’s incendiary remarks, rather than to blame the candidate himself for saying them.
Speaking to CNN’s Jake Tapper Friday afternoon, the retired neurosurgeon said that “it would be a wonderful thing if the media didn’t bite on” the ridiculous, inflammatory things Trump said — such as threatening to “spill the beans” on Heidi Cruz.
“People do what they think brings them attention,” Carson said. “Maybe don’t pay them quite as much attention when they do those things and maybe pay them a little more attention when they start talking about what’s important to the people.”
