Talk of a sequel to Tim Burton’s beloved 1980s supernatural dark comedy “Beetlejuice” has been floating around for many years, but it never really scored much traction until recently.
Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg are onboard to pen the script and there was word last year that the film would be Burton’s next once he wraps work on “Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children” opening later this year.
Now, speaking with Showbiz Spy, the filmmaker confirmed both Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder are locked in to reprise their roles of the titular spook and Lydia Deetz in the follow-up:
“The film is a go and has been approved by the Warner Bros. team, we have talked with the cast members we wanted for the film and they are all on board, this includes both Winona and Michael. We have the script in hand, everything is in place, all we need to do now is get ready to start filming.”
Fow now the project remains secretive and one that, after so many false starts, many won’t believe is a go until it actually begins filming.
