Oscar nominee Shohreh Aghdashloo has joined the cast of “Star Trek Beyond” as the Justin Lin-directed sci-fi film heads for reshoots this month before opening on July 22nd.
Aghdashloo, who has earned strong notices for playing a diplomatic ‘fixer’ on Syfy’s “The Expanse,” is set to play “the High Command of the Federation” according to Deadline.
They likely mean the President of the Federation, a position filled by several actors and characters across the films and shows over the years – most notably Kurtwood Smith in “Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country”.
Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg, John Cho, Anton Yelchin, Sofia Boutella and Idris Elba all star in the new $150 million-budget film which finds the crew stranded on a new planet and in conflict with a new ruthless enemy.
