Last year’s Voice of Ireland winner Patrick James has bagged himself an even bigger prize, tickets to Adele’s sold out 3Arena shows courtesy of the super star herself.
The singer, formerly known as Patrick Donoghue, tweeted Adele this afternoon saying he was “gutted” to be missing her in Dublin, having seen her live whenever she played Dublin.
“I’ve followed @Adele since MySpace & have seen her live every time she’s played Dublin, but don’t have a ticket for this weekend! #GUTTED,” he wrote on Twitter.
Not one to disappoint a fan, Adele replied: “I’ll sort you out my love. Can’t have you missing this one x”
James, who won the Voice of Ireland in 2015 with a rendition of Michael Jackson’s Man in the Mirror and Mama Knows Best by Jessie J, could barely contain his gratitude, going, as he put it, into “cardiac arrest”.
“Oh my god!! Sorry for the delay in the reply I think I’m in cardiac arrest!! ❤ you don’t understand what this means to me! THANK YOU!,” he wrote in reply to the generous offer.
Adele is due to play the 3Arena in Dublin this Friday and Saturday night.
During a show in Belfast last night, she sang tracks from albums 19, 21 and 25, and Oscar-winner Skyfall.
